Senior journalist addresses Amity students
Raipur, August 8, 2017: The Amity School of Communication, Amity University Chhattisgarh, Raipur conducted a guest lecture by Ejaz Kaiser, Senior Special Correspondent of the New Indian Express group, Raipur in the university premises on ‘Modern Trends in Journalism: An Indian Perspective’ today.
In his lecture, Kaiser stressed on versatility, adaptability and innovations of the journalists to stick in the field. He encouraged the students to take initiative on exposing the investigative issues as citizen journalists, a modern trend of journalism practised worldwide. Persuading on the trend of new media, MOJO and social networking sites, he went on to emphasize the importance of fellowship and internship in a student’s career.
Students also were taught about five basic objectives of journalism i.e. questioning, unveiling truth, education, entertainment and investigation. He said that journalist should promote research and rely on first hand information and avoid unverified facts. Speaking about correspondents’ responsibilities, the veteran journalist advised to think fast and act before meeting deadline. He concluded saying that the “World is not moving faster but smartly enough”.
Among the dignitaries present were Registrar of AUC B P Pattanaik, Dean Academics Prof Dr. Sumita Dave, Head of Department Dr. Somak Sen and faculties Mr. Surinder Pal Singh and Mr. B N Panda.
